An article forever…
We use resistant and quality materials that ensure a long life of the article. From the beginning we have opted to design products with a very long life. The most respectful of the environment is to manufacture few things that last a long time. An example would be the reinforcement with a very resistant high-tech material of all parts subjected to abrasion in our leather collections. Another example is the use of Nylon Cordura® in our Collection NO.1. Cordura® is the leading brand of ballistic nylon. This fabric is protected by a layer that improves abrasion resistance and lengthens its durability. Cordura® lasts double the conventional nylon. It is 50% more abrasion resistant and offers 2.5 times more protection to ripping than other comparable tissues.
The goal is to prevent people from wasting their money in low quality products and that instead acquire a product that will last a lifetime if they treat it well. The SCHARLAU articles can go from generation to generation or be recycled and live another life.
We submit all our products to a rigorous control in the laboratory of the research association of the textile industry (AITEX), to guarantee the resistance of the preparation and the materials that make up each collection.

Innovative materials
We continuously research new materials and recycled elements.
Our Tanami Eco collection is manufactured in fabric made from post-consumption plastic bottles. It is 100% recycled PET. We recover waste and transform it into an elegant line of daily use items.

Leather: A natural, sustainable and durable material.
For us leather is one of the most beautiful and elegant materials. We love working with it, especially because it is lasting, practical, natural and sustainable. We design, manufacture and sell high quality accessories that will last many, many years. The international campaign of Real Leather reminds us of the qualities that make leather desirable, its long history and its contribution to a more sustainable society.
Recycled paper and forest sustainability
Our shipping boxes, wrappers, catalogues, labels, hangers, dust bags and inner linings are made from 100% recycled and recyclable material and paper, which ensures that the world's forests are managed responsibly and that their multitude of functions are protected for present and future generations.
Environmental regulations
In order to guarantee ecological balance and reduce our impact on the environment, SCHARLAU and its suppliers comply with environmental regulations: REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals) and RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances). Our company was one of the first companies in Spain to implement the ISO 14000 environmental regulations.
The workshops where we manufacture our goods have been audited according to the Environmental Audit Protocol of the Leather Working Group, Edition 6.7.0.
Energy
We review our energy consumption annually and implement measures to reduce it. A reduction of consumption has been achieved thanks to the LED lighting installation. For 2023 Scharlab plans to produce over 40% of its electricity consumption by means of solar panels.
Waste
The minimization of waste is part of our corporate culture. All our waste is managed by companies authorized by the local administration for this purpose.
